Getting the Most Out of Faroys 3: Buying and Selling on the Marketplace

Getting the Most Out of Faroys · parte 3

Every seafarer has something in a drawer somewhere that they no longer use but is still in good shape — leftover kit from a certificate course, a work boot that no longer fits, a spare telescopic flashlight. The Marketplace section exists exactly for this: secondhand buying and selling seafarer to seafarer.

What to keep in mind when listing

  • Clear photos and an honest description. State the item's real condition (used / lightly used / new) honestly — this builds trust with the buyer and cuts down unnecessary back-and-forth messages.
  • Category and price. A listing added to the right category is easier for buyers to find. Pricing it against the current market speeds up your sale.
  • Location. Especially for large items or things hard to ship, stating your city or port makes life easier for the buyer.

When you're buying

If you're interested in an item, you can message the seller directly and ask questions — payment and delivery details are worked out between the two of you; Faroys doesn't broker the transaction. So, as with any secondhand deal, avoid paying in full before receiving the item, and meet in person when possible.

Once it's sold

When you're done, mark the listing "Sold" — this keeps the listing clean and stops other seafarers from messaging you unnecessarily.

The Marketplace is not a commercial store — it's a secondhand space where seafarers help each other out.
