Anyone who has searched for maritime jobs knows the story: fees paid to middlemen, seafarer job offers from unknown sources, messages that are never answered, fake agencies asking you to "pay first". Faroys was created precisely because of this.
Who founded Faroys, and why?
I am a seafarer like you, working as a Third Officer on ocean-going ships. I won't share my personal details here, because what matters is not who I am but why I started this. After struggling to find sea jobs myself, and watching shipmates lose money to middlemen, I decided to take responsibility and do something. The goal is simple: bring seafarers together under one roof, deliver maritime jobs first-hand and free of charge, and offer everything a seafarer needs in one place.
What Faroys is not
Let's be clear from the start:
- Faroys is not a private employment agency or a crewing agency.
- It does not select candidates, place anyone in a job, interview on behalf of employers, or "sell" anyone to anyone.
- It takes no fee or commission from seafarers or employers.
Faroys is a job board and solidarity community where maritime jobs are posted first-hand by employers. Just like a forum: the employer publishes the seafarer job offer, the seafarer sees it and contacts the employer directly. Nobody in between takes money or sets conditions.

What you'll find on Faroys
- Maritime jobs: seafarer jobs, office, port and technical positions; filter by rank, vessel type and region.
- Seafarer CV: a complete profile with sea service, certificates, education and languages — a CV ready for sea jobs.
- Companies: approved company pages and reviews.
- Forum and blog: experience sharing with colleagues; guide series on COLREG, MLC, SMCP and more.
- Free membership: membership is completely free for seafarers.
Why "solidarity"?
Seafaring is teamwork. Just as we look out for each other on board, we should support each other ashore when looking for work. Every maritime job you see on Faroys is an opportunity that could also reach a colleague; sharing a seafarer job offer you know about, reporting a suspicious listing, or answering a question on the forum are all part of that solidarity.
What's in this series?
This guide explains how to use Faroys effectively: how to find maritime jobs, how to complete your CV, how your personal data is protected, how companies post sea jobs, and the most frequently asked questions.
In short: Faroys is a commission-free maritime jobs and solidarity platform, built for seafarers by seafarers. Welcome aboard.
