Getting the Most Out of Faroys · 1. bölüm

A company representative reviews dozens of candidates a day. What sets you apart is usually not your experience itself — it's how clearly you present it. The Faroys CV editor was built exactly for that.

Profile photo and basic info

An empty profile photo leaves the impression of an unfinished application. A clear, proper photo and accurate rank information shape the first impression of your CV. Keeping your "Actively Looking" status up to date matters too — companies use this filter when searching CVs.

Sea service history: not just dates, detail

Writing "3rd Officer, 2 years" isn't enough. Adding vessel type, DWT, flag state, and trading area lets a company instantly see how well you match the position they're hiring for. If you're on an ongoing contract, don't leave the end date blank — mark it "Currently Serving," since companies filter by availability date.

Certificates: keep expired ones current

Our system sends you a reminder 90 days before a certificate expires — take it seriously. A candidate with an expired STCW certificate can fall behind in search results; some companies filter specifically for "valid certificate" status.

Short bio

A two-to-three sentence summary — which vessel type you specialize in, what trading areas you've worked, which languages you speak — lets a company get to know you before diving into the details. Don't leave this blank.

Why it matters

A complete CV increases your chances of showing up to companies in the "Search CV Database" feature, and it makes a company representative take you seriously as a candidate the moment you apply to a listing. This isn't about looking good on paper — it's about reaching real opportunities.

Once your CV is complete, you can download or print it for free from your profile page.
